Key takeaways TL;DR. A free-flying drone carrying a useful payload lasts only 20–40 minutes. Both tethered drones and tethered aerostats solve this by powering the aircraft through a cable — enabling flights measured in hours or days, plus a secure, jam-resistant data link over the tether. The
Key takeaways TL;DR. Lift a relay higher and its line-of-sight footprint grows. Our interactive calculator shows radio horizon from an aerostat between 100 m and 1,500 m using the radio-horizon formula with atmospheric refraction (k=4/3) — baseline figures for omnidirectional antennas. * Interactive calculator: altitude

At Aerobavovna, we recently conducted field tests to evaluate Persistent Systems MPU5 radios deployed on our aerostats — simulating a mobile air defence communication scenario. The goal: maintain stable, high-throughput network connectivity across moving units over large areas. Three aerostats were positioned 30 km apart at 1,000 meters altitude,
Recent Russian media reports describe tests of a stratospheric platform positioned as part of the HAPS (High Altitude Pseudo-Satellite)concept. The platform is claimed to lift up to 100 kg of payload to an altitude of 20 km and carry 5G communication equipment. According to these statements, the system
